Engagement and Communications Consultant
Nancy Chen is an arts organizer and writer. She has over 7 years of experience in community-engaged arts programming in Philadelphia. Since joining the MTWB/Urban Roots team in August 2016, she has led community engagement and program development. Prior to that, she was Senior Program Manager at Asian Arts Initiative in Chinatown North, where she led program planning, communications, community outreach, and implementation of Exhibitions, Presenting/Performance, and Artist-in-Residence programs. She coordinated two multi-year neighborhood initiatives: the Social Practice Lab residency series and the Pearl Street Project, both of which sought to use creative approaches to promote more inclusive and equitable community development. Outside of MTWB, Nancy is a freelance writer who has covered arts and culture topics for the Philadelphia Inquirer, Grid Magazine, the artblog, and PlanPhilly. In her downtime Nancy is an avid tennis player.
